Hahaha I actually spent most of today doing productive things!
Had a good sleep till like close to 12 noon today, and then got up and then finally attempted the task of making roti prata.
Screwed up quite a few parts, but thankfully so far nothing irreversible. Ah...except the broken jar of condensed milk. But more on that later.
The first challenge was to get the dough. I rmb getting the dough fairly easily back in the trinity year, but this time I added too much water and ended up having to add pinchfuls of flour repeatedly to get the smooth, non-sticky dough that I think I wanted.
And then, I had to figure out just HOW they flip the dough to stretch it. But before that I followed the instructions and let the dough settle for 2 hours or so.
In the meantime, I was working on the temple song on garageband. Eh, it's pretty fun doing a bit of amateur sound engineering man. It's like, audio photoshop. Especially during that part when I spliced in the "as a matter of fact" over the erroneous "for a matter of fact" and it sounded pretty seamless. Just copy and paste, so easy! And then it's all about aligning and balancing the volumes and stuff (Which took up a whole lot of time, and I don't think I'm done with it yet).
And then I had to record my bass too, and I settled for a fairly doable riff. The bridge part was somewhat red hot chili peppers inspired, I realised.
Once I got most of the volumes balanced, and erased the extra noises in the background and stuff, I sent it to the other trolley members for their review. I was quite satisfied with it then, though I hadn't realised that there was still quite a bit of work to do with the volume balancing and stuff. For example, making my bass louder:D
And then there was the sticky issue of my ibook's garageband not being able to read the imac's garageband files. So in the end I had to retweak the original ibook file, and then convert a track of the bass on the imac to mp3 and send it over to the ibook where I can import it into that garageband. Damnit man, really troublesome. Still, I suppose it gave me a chance to retweak and improve on the overall sound. Not that I really know that it's a real improvement, but it seems to sound better.
The prata situation was slightly frustrating when I tried but couldn't get the dough to stretch properly by flipping. I tried cheating by pulling the edges, and then realised it was easier to flip-stretch it then. I was pretty much starving then, so I just decided to try frying one first then see how. It tasted like how it did in the time I tried it during the trinity year, which was not much like prata. I dunno, maybe I should've added more oil. I fried a second one which had a bit more texture of prata, but the taste wasn't there either. It was just like a fried, chewy dough, that's not prata. Dunno what I'm missing man. I even used ghee. Maybe I should add more salt too? Agh, this is unhealthy stuff man, but oh well hahaha.
So I was ready to bring out some broccoli to cook with the curry for dinner when I opened the fridge door too quickly and I heard this loud pop sound and saw a yellow splob on the ground with a broken glass jar on top. Ah SHIT man. I kinda just stood there for awhile trying to decide what was the best course of action, cuz I mean, there's a sticky mess on the kitchen floor, and THEN there's broken glass.
But well, I just tried to remove as much glass as I could with my hands and ended up poking the area between my fingernail and flesh on my right pointer(guess I should be glad nothing got stuck in there)(i think). And then I used a cloth to mop up as much condensed milk+glass bits as I could and tried using the wet-newspaper tactic I learned from a guy years back when I accidentally broke this glass sheet in my second aunt's house. I think the kitchen floor should be harmless now.
Ah maan. I suppose I should sleep now. More trolley practice tmr and Egg arrowed me work to do man. And also, I should've cleaned the fish tank today but argh.

The Profile Page
Woo! a profile page! How cool's that!!
Okay so where shall I start. Hmm.
Basically I'm a 19 year old serving my country as an NSman. As a Combat Engineer. In 30SCE. Which well, isn't exactly the best place on earth.
And there aren't many places worse than here that I've been to so, yea. Can't wait for ORD.
Anyway previously I was studying in Trinity College in Melbourne. Life there's pretty much alright and I reaaallly missed the food and people and air back in Singapore.
Not that it's really bad over there or anything, but it's just that it doesnt feel so homely see.
Yea anyway I studied in SJI (THE best sec sch) for 4 years (THE best years) and graduated in 2005 from class 403 (THE best class).
Then I studied in CJC (THE best jc) as part of 1T25(THE best cj class) for the month of jan(THE best month). Before SJI I spent
6 years in JPS (THE best primary sch) and in THE best class of 6A 2001 (man sounds kinda long ago already..haha).
So there! That's my whole education history. Oh unless u include kindergarten, which started in SIS in hongkong (THE best
kindergarten/pri sch there) where I spent 1.5 years and the remaining .5 years in the downstairs PAP education centre (not really THE best
this time).
Anyway all those which I've said were THE best were indeed THE best because I'd nvr ever give up those experiences for anything else
haha. For better or for worse man. I mean hey, I know it's kinda common sense la, cuz it's not really possible to 'give up experiences'
but you get my point right. Right? No? Ah well too bad then.
I see this is more like some weird self-testimony as opposed to a profile. But heck it's my page so I do it the way I like:P.
Lemme see what else.
I'd put my birthday down but YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO REMEMBER IT so not much pt for me to put it here right! Haha. Okay la heck,
my birthday's on the 30th of feb 1989.
What, you think I'm lying? No of course I'm not lying! Why should I lie? Because I'm too bored?? Good point, I am bored.
Which is why I bothered making this profile page in the first place.
Ah well. I guess I shall stop here for now. Getting late and I want to see how this template would look like on my blog.
Cya, take care, have fun, and don't stress out too much:D.
